In San Francisco, u-pick seasons are short and weather-dependent, so check the farm's own page or call the same morning before driving out. Across California, many farm stands are cash-friendly and close for the winter, and botanical gardens may charge admission or require timed tickets on busy weekends. Community gardens often keep waiting lists, so apply early in the year. Check the listing for hours, address and Google rating.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 9 amβ5 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (415) 661-1316. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, gggp.org.
Customers rate it 4.5 out of 5 on Google across 17,010 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded botanical & public gardens in San Francisco.
San Francisco is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around San Francisco is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Stunning, peaceful garden. We loved walking around, looking at the beautiful Koi, being in nature. At the end the path naturally wound up in the tea house where we enjoyed the cool morning with perfectly steeped tea, cookies, and edamame. We were then able to enjoy the rest of the park. One of the coolest things I learned was this Japanese Garden is the oldest operating tea garden in North America. It truly is a beautiful space. Definitely worth the visit. β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ

This is a wonderful garden to visit. The only problem is that too many people are trying to do photo sessions in front of the landmarks and they get upset if you don't move for them to take their pics. π€ We take many pictures as you can see, but we don't inconvenience anyone else. I had a French man yell at me because I stepped into his picture. I was looking at Bonsai Trees not where his kid was standing. π

The Japanese Tea Garden is peaceful and well-maintained, but honestly, it felt overpriced for what it offers. At $16 per adult, I expected much more. The garden is relatively small and can be explored fairly quickly, with only a few main attractions such as the koi pond, bridges, and tea house. Many other visitors seem to share the same concernβthat while itβs beautiful, the admission price is hard to justify. San Francisco has plenty of free or lower-cost spots with equally impressive views and scenery. Worth visiting only if youβre specifically interested in Japanese gardens; otherwise, it may not be the best value for your money.

Was not busy and was cheap for entry. Absolutely beautiful experience with amazing photo taking opportunities and a fantastic cafe. The garden is breathtaking, with koi fish and beautiful shrines. One of my favorite spots we had stopped in San Francisco. Highly recommend coming!

We had a good experience visiting Japanese Tea Garden. The gardens were clean, well maintained, and pleasant to walk through during our visit. The garden itself is on the smaller side, but it is still a nice place to stop and explore. There is also a tea house inside the gardens, which is a nice spot to grab a snack or drink while visiting. It was very crowded when we went, even though it was still fairly early in the day, so visitors may want to plan ahead for busier times. Overall, it was a relaxing and enjoyable place to visit.
